Head Coach Brian McMahon
Brian McMahon is in his eleventh year as head men’s soccer coach and ninth year as head women’s soccer coach at Greenville College. Now in his 19th year of coaching soccer, McMahon has coached in the club, high school, and collegiate settings.
In McMahon’s tenure at Greenville he has recorded 214 wins in 10 seasons. In addition under McMahon’s direction he has coached 17 NCCAA All-Americans, 85 SLIAC All-Conference performers, 17 NCAA All-Region, 2 NCAA Academic All-Americans, and 9 Professional Development Players. In 2004 senior Seth Huber (Coffeen, Il., HS) was named the Kyle Rote Jr. Award winner which is given to the outstanding national player of the year.
In 2008 and 2010 McMahon led his men’s team to the SLIAC conference tournament championship and qualified for the NCAA National Tournament.
The 08 team was the first team of any sport in Greenville’s history to qualify for the NCAA National Championship Tournament.
Since 2003 McMahon’s men’s team has compiled a record of 115 W – 57 L – 21 T while the past three seasons under his direction the women have a 58 W – 22 L record. The past 4 years McMahon has led his men’s team to 4 national championship tournaments with the 07 and 09 teams qualifying for the NCCAA National Tournament while the 08 and 10 teams competed in the NCAA National Tournament before losing to Loras University who went on to the NCAA Final Four.
As a player, McMahon competed at Indiana Wesleyan University where he received NCCAA regional and national honors. During his 4 years at IWU he competed in the NAIA regional final four two times while also qualifying twice for the NCCAA National Tournament and winning the MCC conference regular season and conference championship two times. He also was given the opportunity to compete in England, Ireland, and North Ireland with Athletes in Action following his career.
McMahon graduated from Indiana Wesleyan University in 1998 with a Bachelor of Science degree in psychology. Following graduation, McMahon earned his certified chemical dependency counselor (CCDC) license while counseling juvenile delinquents in a treatment facility. In 2002, he completed a master’s degree in sports psychology at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville.
In addition to his coaching responsibilities, McMahon serves as the SLIAC men’s soccer chair, serves on the NCAA Central Region Ranking Committee, serves as the NCCAA Regional Chair, serves as the NCCAA National Vice Chair and also serves on the NSCAA central region ranking committee.
McMahon currently resides in Greenville, IL with his wife Jen who also works at the college as the assistant director for freshman admissions. They have four children: MacKenzie (3), twins Abigail and Keegan (2) and Ally Parker (9mths).
